Misplaced Confidence

Strategypage writes that the Iranians are confident that Russia and China will keep the UN Security Council from taking "action:"

Production of nuclear material has started, the UN knows about it, and Iran doesn't care. Iran says it will promise not to develop nuclear weapons if the United States and the rest of the word got rid of theirs. Iran appears pretty confident that China and Russia will provide diplomatic support of the UN tries to stop Iranian nuclear weapons developments via sanctions.

Of course, somebody else had similar confidence in China, Russia, and France. It didn't work out so well for him.

Really, Iran should welcome and not block the UN route. Iran can survive the UN route. As Saddam did. What they can't withstand is an America that decides the UN is of no use in stopping the Iranian nuclear threat. Like we did with Saddam.
