Running Away

When Spain decided to run away from the Islamists by withdrawing their troops from Iraq two years ago, they expected that the enemy would respect them and let them resume their 10-M lives.

Sadly for Spain, the enemy has come to Spain and their security people have been busy rounding up jihadis in Spain:

The suspects are the third group that the Spanish have arrested in less than seven months on charges of aiding the insurgency. Spain has made a total of 46 arrests.

Nearly two years after the train bombings in Madrid killed 191 people on March 11, 2004, fears are growing that the country is becoming increasingly fertile ground for the recruitment of Islamic militants.

The Spanish may be learning that when you start running, you just can't just stop in Spain and call off the pursuitto lead quiet peaceful lives:

"This operation shows once again that the government is in a permanent fight against international terrorism, a task that we must pursue with all possible attention and determination," José Antonio Alonso, the interior minister, said at a news conference here.

Spain opted out of the war. The jihadis didn't. Is it any surprise that Spain could not get out of the war? When the jihadis claim Spain in addition to Iraq as their territory this should not have been a big shock to Madrid.

Truly, determination is necessary to beat these thugs and killers. Come on, Madrid, show some. If you really had cajones, you'd send a battalion of infantry back to Iraq for a year.
