It All Evens Out, Right?

I am always kind of amazed that wealthy environmentalists live lavish lifestyles with their wealth and then use more of that wealth to buy carbon credits in order to claim that they have a carbon neutral life--and so are superior to even poor people who live simply but spew some small amount of carbon even if they don't jet off to ski in some Austrian resort.

So if I murder 5 people yet then get five women pregnant, am I life neutral and so shouldn't worry about the 5 deaths because I offset the dead people with 5 births?

Just wondering.
