I'm Thinking We Might Need Plan C

As our leaders have unconvincingly asserted, we have a military option against Iran if they refuse to turn away from their nuclear weapons path with a real nuclear deal. Or do we?

This seems comforting:

Should the negotiations ultimately fail and the talks fall apart, the Obama administration and any future US president will have what Michael Crowley of Politico describes as an awe-inspiring "plan B" — the Massive Ordnance Penetrator (MOP).

Otherwise known as the GBU-57, the 15-ton bomb can penetrate deep underground to destroy buried nuclear targets in Iran.

But what if the obvious flaw in our Plan B is the notion that the relevant targets are "in Iran?" We might need a Plan C.

But I fear that we will get President Obama's Plan A:

Obama will get his “legacy.” Kerry will get his Nobel. And Iran will get the bomb.

I wouldn't be shocked if the Iranians build a replica of USS Missouri for the signing ceremony.

Even though France has been strong on pushing for a real deal, I fear that this is just a negotiating ploy to get better side business deals with Iran to get France on board an agreement. Sorry to be that cynical, but there you go.

Actually, at this point my main hope is that Iran's hardliners will spoil the deal by being unwilling to even pretend to the Great Satan that they have no nuclear weapons that they have a God-given right to have as God's chosen instrument on this planet.

Have a super sparkly day.
