I'm Truly Stunned

Unless you wish to argue that the Munich Agreement was actually the deepest plan in nuanced European diplomatic history designed to crush Nazi Germany, exhaust Soviet Russia, and bring America in to finish off the Soviets, so Europe could finally live in peace; it would be difficult to do anything but conclude that the last 24 hours have redefined the expression "clusterfuck" to a whole new level of stunning idiocy.

God bless him, but I think President Obama really is trying his best at strategery.

Let me at least do something useful rather than registering my slack-jawed incomprehension of what our president is doing and allow me to correct the Urban Dictionary entry, however. "Charlie Foxtrot" is not an acronym for ClusterFuck. It is NATO standard phonetic alphabet for the letters "C" and "F".

UPDATE: Michael Barone:

Here’s how the Obama folks have been starting to spin Syria. The president made a credible threat to use military force in Syria. At the same time, he worked behind the scenes to get Russia’s Vladimir Putin to push Bashar Assad to give up chemical weapons.

These two seemingly discordant initiatives, brilliantly coordinated, combined to produce a process to eliminate Assad’s chemical weapons without even a shot being fired across the bow.

Of course, every bit of this is false. Only the most credulous Obama fans are fooled.

Much of the media will want to be fooled, too. But I repeat Barone.
