The Long March

When the Iraqi Basra offensive began at the end of March (Operation Knights' Charge), I was shocked that our media quickly concluded that the offensive was a failure. The whole episode was bizarre to me.

Now it seems that the New York Times has ended the whole NYT's Charge operation--they are calling Basra an Iraqi success.

It took some time, but I guess the mountain of journalistic resources and rooms full of fact checkers that our media can deploy eventually did prove themselves up to the task of reporting the news.
