Can We Destroy Them Now?

The Iranians are helping the Taliban kill our troops in Afghanistan (tip to Instapundit):

NATO officials say they have caught Iran red-handed, shipping heavy arms, C4 explosives and advanced roadside bombs to the Taliban for use against NATO forces, in what the officials say is a dramatic escalation of Iran's proxy war against the United States and Great Britain.

"It is inconceivable that it is anyone other than the Iranian government that's doing it," said former White House counterterrorism official Richard Clarke, an ABC News consultant.

I know what you're thinking. This is impossible. Iran was happy we got rid of the Taliban. And Afghanistan is the good war. It is understandable that Iran wants to fight us in Iraq--the bad war. But Afghanistan? This is not possible! The Taliban are Sunni, for Pete's sake! Iran is Shia! They can't possibly cooperate against us! I mean, Iran just wants to talk!

Yet this can't be a mere Bush plot to lie us into war, NATO is making the claim. France is in NATO. Belgium is in NATO. It's a mulilateral organization. A multilateral organization that doesn't include Israel.

Yes, the Left will clearly have trouble processing this information (as our so-called intelligence bureaucracy is having difficulty, according to the article). They will disregard it. Never happened.

Yet Iran is aiding the Taliban in order to hurt us. Iran wants to win. They won't be too choosy about finding friends who want to hurt us, too. Why this is so difficult for the Left and our professional spies to understand is beyond me.

Good grief, I'm just about ready to support nuking Iran to get rid of the mullahs. Can we finally admit we are at war with the mullahs?! What more do the mullahs have to do? Bomb the Berkeley Women's Studies Department, or something?
