Fist of God?

The earthquake in Pakistan is horrible. Tens of thousand appear to have died. It is difficult to comprehend how so many people could be snuffed out so quickly.

Amidst the tragedy, I find it hard to believe that we might have gotten extremely lucky in snuffing out somebody who would love to kill hundreds of thousands of us in a flash:

The quake shook the border region of Afghanistan and Pakistan, where bin Laden is believed to be hiding. However, authorities at this point have no information indicating he's been injured or killed, said a U.S. official who spoke on condition of anonymity because of the information's sensitivity.

Normally, it would not even have occurred to me that a golden boulder could have pounded that bastard bin Laden into paste. But I don't get why there is even a story. Why is information that nothing happened "sensitive?" How does "no information" get forwarded to US authorities?
